What is it?
A tribute to New Zealand’s only F1 world champion, Denis ‘Denny’ Hulme, who passed away before the open wheel, General Motors V8-powered two-seater was unveiled. In hindsight, this was probably for the best.
Did they build any?
At least one. A papaya demo car ran at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed and was briefly tested by journalists, before the project was revised in an effort to unlock sales in more countries (though the US and Australia weren’t attempted due to stringent crash and emissions tests).
Where are they now?
The Can-Am never made production. The website still exists, stacked with obvious AI slop and fake rendered supercars. There’s even an invitation to invest. The dream of a hardcore Kiwi supercar appears to now rest upon Liam Lawson winning the title for himself and creating Lawson Hypercars Ltd. Not totally impossible, just unlikely...
